In our latest Seasonal Preview, we shared our forecast for Autumn Winter 2015/16. Since being published over two years ago in our Kids Lifestyle Trend book, we can now see evidence of these trends as they emerge in stores globally. Here, we analyse how the leading retailers in the UK and US have adopted and interpreted the Dream Traveller trend.
Envisioned almost two years ago, Dream Traveller is a magical and enchanting trend, inspired by the beauty of our imagination and possibilities of the subconscious world we enter in our dreams. This sweet, delicate palette blends pinks and peppermint with moodier, darker shades of purple.
Stores such as John Lewis, Debenhams and Target offer a fun interpretation of Dream Traveller with cartoon space characters, rockets and graphic prints. Metallics feature as an accent colour in the George collection, whilst a glossy white is a strong feature at Target.
Mamas and Papas, Fenwick and Pottery Barn tell a dreamlike narrative with a blend of delicate pinks and neutrals. Wall art combines lulling messages and mythical characters in soft pastels and wood accents.
Shaped lighting is a popular update on the high street this season, with stars being the key choice. The Little White Company used star shapes for nursery decor in neutrals and greys whilst John Lewis and Wilko showcased a darker, blue dominated palette for string lighting and star print cushions.
